Samuella Graham

Samuella Graham, known as SAMO, is a multidisciplinary artist and a dynamic presence in the contemporary art scene of Accra, Ghana. Her work encompasses a diverse range of mediums including painting, collage, digital art, and performance art.This variety in her work showcases her unique narrative and stylistic flair, highlighting her ability to interweave multiple disciplines seamlessly.


A 2019 Communication Design graduate from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, SAMO's career began in advertising, honing her skills as a graphic designer and creative director. This experience enriched her personal art, allowing her to explore and evolve creatively. SAMO's art delves into diverse themes like women's experiences, period poverty, human emotions, relationships, and our connection with nature. Her work, characterized by a pixelated signature style reminiscent of her graphic design background, skillfully combines realism, abstraction, and surrealism.


Her artistic journey is highlighted by exhibitions at KNUST’s Art Festival (2018), Time out with Dove in Accra (2022), The Art gala (2023), and Fantasm (2023). A notable achievement was her residency at the Nkyinkyim Museum, leading to the ancestral wall and Freedom Parade projects (2022). In 2023, she showcased her work in Abidjan, Côted'Ivoire, focusing on socio-economic challenges, racial stereotypes, and cultural expectations. This exhibition marked her growing international presence, using art to initiate conversations on critical issues. SAMO, a pivotal figure in Ghana's art scene, blends graphic and fine art elements, emotionally resonating with audiences. Her work is not just artistic expression but also a cultural dialogue, establishing her as a significant voice in the global art community.
